We carry a fine array of Hand-Painted Yarns. Our yarns come in all of our wonderful Wine County Colors and are unique and wonderful to work with.
Super Wash 100% Merino Wool Yarn:
SuperWash yarn can be machine washed & dried, hand washed or dry cleaned
Hand-dyed in 2 ounce skeins, 140 yards each. 1120 yards per pound. Double knitting weight, which means it is slightly heavier than US sport weight, and slightly lighter than US worsted weight. All of our yarns are available in semi-solid as they are hand dyed... and the variegated colors! If you see a color that you like in the variegated yarn, and want it in a solid, please give us a call!
Washing: machine wash, hand wash, or dry clean.
We throw our socks in with the wash - then hang by the toe to dry. Or dry flat.
We find it works up beautifully on sizes 4 to 6 US needles, with about 22 stitches over 4 inches. Appropriate for anything you'd use sport or worsted weight yarn for.
Mohair Yarn: 78% mohair, 13% wool, 9% nylon, spun in England.
Hand-dyed in 2 ounce skeins, 122 yards each. 980 yards per pound.
Washing: Hand wash, dry flat.
Fabulous when used to make warm winter hats, you can alternate this mohair yarn with our Wobbly Wool Yarn, Super Wash 100% Merino Yarn, and even throw in a little bit of the 100% nylon Frills yarn for a really fun hat. An extra warm hat is made by using two strands of this mohair yarn together, an average adult hat takes two skeins.
Great for scarves, sweaters, afghans. Use needles US sizes 6 -9 or even larger.
50% Silk/50% Merino Wool Yarn: 50% Bombyx Silk/50% Merino Wool yarn, 2000 yards per pound. Spun in Switzerland. Hand-dyed in 1 ounce skeins, 125 yards.
Washing: hand wash, dry flat.
This is a sport weight yarn, use needles US 3-6, with a gauge of 20-24 stitches to 4 inches.
Wobbly Wool Yarn: 96% wool, 4% nylon, 308 yards per pound.
A fabulous lumpy-bumpy-wobbly yarn. Hand-dyed in 2 ounce skeins, 38 yards each.
Washing: hand wash, lay flat to dry.
This chunky yarn adds wonderful texture to hats and scarves. When crocheting with Wobbly yarn, you'll need to use a large crochet hook.
Frills: 100% nylon, 100% fun yarn with eyelashes and ribbony eyelashes. Hand-dyed in 1 ounce skeins, 53 yards each. 850 yards per pound.
We love to use Frills as accent rows in our hats! Frills also crochets nicely into bun covers. We like it the best in solid colors, so we keep those in stock. We can hand-dye it in any of the multi Wine Country Colors upon request.
SuperWash Sock Yarn: Our webmistresses favorite! 80% wool, 20% nylon, 50 grams, (1 3/4 oz) approx. 230 yds
Washing: machine wash & dry or handwash
Gauge 6-8sts/4 inches on 1-3 US needle
Feltable: 100% merino wool worsted weight. 2 ounce skeins, 140 yards gauge 4 -5 sts/1 inch on 5 -7 needle
It makes great knitted and felted items. When we were telling someone about the yarn we had used we'd say "and it's feltable" and a name was born.
Bulky: 100% merino wool, 2 ounce skeins, 75 yards
gauge: 3 - 3.75 sts/inch on 9-11
